The Can-Do Kitchen is a non-profit organization that provides inclusive support for local entrepreneurs in Kalamazoo. It acts as an incubator, collaborator and hub for food businesses.
We redesigned the brand for Can-Do Kitchen as they separated from Fair Food Matters as their own entity in 2015. The website was designed using squarespace.
We look forward to working with CDK to develop a strong and cohesive brand experience.
Unclee's Barber Shop
We were hired to create a brand that conveys an upscale barber shop experience for Unclee's Barber Shop. We created a clean, typographic modern logo with a bit of vintage. The website was created using Squarespace. The photos were taken in black and white. The brand is about community, with pay-it-forward and children's reading programs.
The rebranding for Susan McHenry's Empty Vessel Pottery consisted of a new identity and clean and user friendly web experience. Susan wanted to show a bit of the 'artists hand' in her identity. We used the brush and handwritten font to convey the personality of her work.
The website is designed using Squarespace. The shopping experience is a breeze and highlights her wares beautifully.
The Fresh Food Fairy is the best thing that happened to vegetables since sliced bread! Er, uh, yeah. Hether Frayer, the fairy under the wings, provides creative and positive associations with fresh food for school aged children in our community.
I've developed the identity, website and photography for this awesome brand!
I started Handmade Kalamazoo as a way to market and promote the mad talent in Kalamazoo. We utilize vacant space in Kalamazoo and pop up little shops selling handcrafted wares.
I started designing typographic t-shirts, selling them in our stores, online and at farmers markets. We're developing a new brand to branch off of the shirts in 2016.
We created Main & Drake out of Handmade Kalamazoo. Its a curated, juried indie market for makers. The space features up to 22 individual spaces for businesses to own and operator their own brick-and-mortar store alongside other creative businesses in southwest Michigan.
Fresh food and live music alongside your favorite Michigan makers and pop-ups. Check it out!
Mamaleelu Cold Brew
Mamaleelu Cold Brew Coffee is a start-up artisanal coffee maker out of the Can-Do Kitchen in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Mamaleelu’s beautifully handcrafted, small batch products needed an identity, web site and labels for their product. We worked together to intertwine the market audience with her vision and mission to create an identity that was strong, black, and bold.
The product has been a huge success since its launch and is now available at several retail stores in Kalamazoo, as well as Farmer’s markets.
Stephanie Evergreen is the hottest thing in Data Visualization. She needed a brand identity and website to match. She travels all over the world, blogs and writes books to geek people out on reports and data, so she needed a site where her events and speaking engagements were listed, her blog looked as beautiful as her content and her services were front and center for clients to get ahold of!
Our friend Hether, the Fresh Food Fairy, hired us to create an identity and package design for Kaleamazoo Chips. A product of Fresh Food Fairy, she uses kale from small, local, sustainable farms and organic and natural ingredients. This product is handcrafted with love in small batches.
All profits from the sale of Kaleamazoo Chips go to fund "Fresh Food Fairy Nutrition Education" - so that's rad!
You can find this product across Michigan from ma n' pa grocery shops to Whole Foods. Kale yeah!
Kalamazoo Barre Studio
Take ballet and pilates and you now have barre. I was hired by Mary to rebrand Kalamazoo Barre Studio. To my surprise and delight, I worked with an interior designer to create the identity based on moves and holds of barre, and the space and interior of the studio.
I also took the photography and built the website using this method.
Kalamazoo Collective Housing is a non-profit that provides sustainable housing and empowers people to create democratic cooperatives by strengthening our community through shared resources and education.
They hired me to rebrand their organization. I represented the values of the organization using imagery, type and color.
The logo consists of a hexagon (found in nature to be a highly effective organizing principle) as the main house (the mission). Inside the house contains two houses representing the conversation. This conveys the democratic, shared community beliefs.
929 Apothecary is a small women owned start-up making body care products. This line will feature lotions, oils and bath products to start.
